2016 brings 3D-mammography (tomosynthesis) to Hackensack Radiology Group. 3D mammography is one of the most significant advances in medical imaging in the last decade and has been proven to increase detection of breast cancer, especially in women with dense breast tissue.
State-of-the-art 3D mammography (tomosynthesis) is approved for all women who would undergo a standard mammogram
No additional compression required
Highly trained and compassionate technical and nursing staff
Detects 41% more invasive breast cancers
High-volume breast imaging center, ensuring quality imaging and experienced physicians
What to expect during the exam :
A 3D mammography exam is very similar to having a conventional 2D mammogram. Like a 2D mammogram, the technologist will position you, compress your breast, and take images from different angles.
During the 3D mammogram, the x-ray arm sweeps in a slight arc over the breast, taking multiple breast images in just seconds.
There’s no additional compression required with the 3D exam, and it only takes a few seconds longer for each view.
The technologist will view the images of your breasts at the computer workstation to ensure quality images have been captured for review. A radiologist will then examine the images and report results to either your physician or directly to you.
